Experiments

Microbes outnumber your cells up to twenty times over. They even tell you what to eat.
Bacteria have become the workhorses of the Biotech Revolution; now Synthetic Biology’s engineering approach aims to reduce the chaos of life to components. From hacked bacteria to synthetic life-forms, microbes will compute, produce energy, make self-healing materials, kill pathogens and do the housework.
Biotech promises control over nature, but collaboration with living machines means caring for them too. How will our internal microbial landscape collide with a synthetic external one? Biology doesn’t know borders. And in simplifying life to its molecular interactions, might we accidently degrade our own self value?
I have been experimenting with ways of representing these abstract issues.
